Post Partum and Newborn Care Nurse Expert

Kim has over 35 years of experience in Postpartum and Newborn care at community hospitals and at a larger teaching hospital in Toronto. She has participated in MOREOB programs (Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiency) and leads many quality improvement initiatives and mock simulations on the patient unit level focusing on safe, quality, perinatal patient care. Kim is an instructor for neonatal resuscitation (NRP), licensed from Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) and has received perinatal nurse specialty certification from Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). She has been an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) since 1998, practicing in hospital, clinic, and home visits. Kim is a nursing professor for the post RN/ post RPN Obstetric Nursing Certificate course at Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning. This course, which she contributed to developing, is based on the Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women’s Health Nurses (CAPWHN) Perinatal standards in Canada and the CNA competencies for perinatal nurses. Kim received a legend award for compassion from a community hospital and has been an award recipient from the Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario (RNFOO). In her current advanced practice Nurse Clinician/Perinatal Educator role, she provides nursing just-in-time teaching, facilitates quality care initiatives, performs patient safety reviews, and remains clinically involved in complex antepartum and postpartum/newborn patient care at an academic teaching hospital.
